The Yoga Room’s By-Donation Karma Classes continue in April, on Saturdays, April 6, 13, 20 & 27, 10-11am! Yoga Room student and 2012 Yoga Immersion Program graduate Mallory Hood returns to lead our Karma classes once again, this time challenging students with a 4-week session focusing on our all-important core.
April 6: Anatomy of the Core – an overview of the muscles that make up our ‘core’ and a sequence of asanas that hit every muscle group associated with it.
April 13: Breath and the Core – a music-free sequence that focuses on the breath and breathing exercises that come from the abdomen and diaphragm.
April 20: Balances for Core Strength – a series of both simple & challenging balances that strengthen the core and massage the nervous system.
April 27: Cleansing the Core – drawing on the Yoga Room’s ‘Spring Cleaning’ theme this session, students will use twists, breath, and inversions to cleanse the organs of the core.
Each week will be a ‘stand alone’ class so come to one week to work on a particular aspect or come to all four. All proceeds (suggested donations $10-$15) will go to SOS Community Services — serving the hungry & homeless in Washtenaw County. http:www.soscs.org. Pre-registration is recommended; contact Christy to reserve your spot!
