Since 2008 our Yoga Book Club has met every other month to discuss inspirational books on a wide range of holistic topics including yoga philosophy, spiritual growth, psychology & more. Members take turns hosting in their homes - or even poolside when the weather is nice! Our discussions are made even more enjoyable by the healthy vegan dishes everyone brings to share for our dinner potlucks. Email Christy if you’d like to join - all Yoga Room students are welcome!

The Last Girl by Nadia Murad
Nobel Peace Prize winner Nadia Murad was born and raised in Kocho, a small village of farmers and shepherds in northern Iraq. A member of the Yazidi community, she and her family lived a quiet life. In 2014, when Nadia was just 21 years old, this life ended. Islamic State militants massacred the people of her village, executing men who refused to convert to Islam and women too old to become sex slaves. Nadia was forced, along with thousands of other Yazidi girls, into the ISIS slave trade. She managed to escape, finding shelter in the home of a Sunni Muslim family who risked their lives to smuggle her to safety.
Today, Nadia's story has forced the world to pay attention to ongoing genocide in Iraq and around the world. It is a call to action, a testament to the human will to survive, and a love letter to a lost country, a fragile community, and a family torn apart by war.
We will discuss this book on Wednesday, April 17, 6:30-8:30pm. RSVP to Christy by April 15 for this month's location.
