Group Yoga Classes

The Yoga Room has been a quiet sanctuary for yoga practice since 2004. We offer mindfulness-based Hatha, Vinyasa and Yin yoga classes for adults of all ages and levels of experience. We take a unique approach with our weekly yoga classes by designing 2 to 4 month sessions around a specific theme for students who are looking for a more in-depth, enriching yoga experience. Our yoga classes are intentionally small -- a maximum of 7 students -- so that each student receives the attention they deserve.

Spring Cleaning, Core & More

March 9 - June 27, 2020

In the first half of this 4-month session we will shake off the winter blues by doing some yogic spring cleaning sequences for our immune system, lymphatic system, digestion and more. Then we will power up our yoga poses in the second half of the session by exploring all the muscles that make up a strong core--strengthening what is weak, improving posture, relieving back pain and achieving better balance.

HATHA

Great for beginners and those wanting a more mellow practice.

Gradually increase strength and flexibility while relieving stress and tension. AM Hatha: A more energizing class to help wake you up and set a positive tone for your day. PM Hatha: A calming, slower-paced class to help you unwind at the end of your day.

VINYASA

Best for students in good physical condition or with prior yoga experience.

Ann Arbor's Original Vinyasa! This alignment-enhanced style of Vinyasa offers a practice that is fluid and fun, but at the same time safe and sustainable. Increase your strength, flexibility and memory in this heat-building style by learning the sequence and then flowing on your own!

YIN

Good for all levels, especially those wanting a great stretch.

Yin Yoga has been coined the "quiet practice". A variety of leg, hip, back and shoulder stretches are held for 3-5 minutes in an attempt to go deep into the muscles and connective tissue of the body. Use breath and awareness as tools to cultivate mindfulness and deep relaxation.
