You will need a yoga mat, and may also want to bring a water bottle, and perhaps a hand towel. I highly encourage the use of props in your practice (blocks, straps, yoga blankets, etc.). I do not supply extra mats or props. Fitted exercise clothing is recommended. Yoga is practiced in bare feet. First-timers should get to the studio 5 minutes before your private session starts to have time to get settled. Please bring your Session Intention form that you were sent in your confirmation email so that I can go over it with you. Please turn off your cell phone and leave it in the studio foyer.
Yes, there is a bathroom with a shower at the studio.
I am a thoughtful, knowledgeable instructor with more than 25 years of teaching experience. I have a unique, holistic approach that combines yoga with wellness so that students learn much more than just yoga poses each time they come to class. The yoga studio itself is a sanctuary: a charming ‘cottage’ in a quiet, garden setting with a high ceiling, cork floor, and lots of windows looking out over the swimming pool and pine trees. If you’re looking for gentle encouragement, a healing presence, and a supportive environment, you’ve found the right place. Nothing would make me happier than to support you on your journey to optimal health and well-being.
Students in my Live+Virtual online yoga course format enroll in a full 2-month course of classes as there is an intentional wellness theme and the classes often build upon one another. I also run my classes as courses because to see the benefits of yoga you need to make a regular commitment to it. It is hard for us humans to be disciplined sometimes, and registering for a 2-month course is a good way to hold yourself accountable.
My ‘Live+Virtual’ online yoga courses include a weekly Zoom class that students can either join live or watch the recording at their convenience. The weekly audio session is available for 7 days to keep students motivated but, if you end up missing a week and want to ‘make it up,’ you also have on-demand access to my Video Library to use throughout the course which has two dozen classes from 20-75 minutes in length.
I ask students to refrain from wearing fragrances or scented products (lotions, perfumes, deodorants, hairspray, fabric softeners, etc.) to in-person private sessions, and if you’ve bought a new mat, consider airing it out before bringing it to class. As a Highly Sensitive Person, I have a sensitivity to certain fragrances and smells and appreciate that no fragrances means everyone–myself included–can feel comfortable taking nice deep yoga breaths!
If you don’t have enough time to get to the yoga studio, but are in need of a weekly dose of zen to help you de-stress and feel stronger, more flexible, and relaxed, then my Live+Virtual Online Yoga Courses are for you! New courses begin every two months, and focus on specific wellness themes that will help you develop or deepen a home yoga practice. Enjoy motivating, inspirational, effective and easy-to-follow yoga practices that fit into YOUR busy schedule. Fill out the form on the Connect page to subscribe to my newsletter where you can find out about upcoming courses.
I do not teach in-person group classes. In-person private sessions are available, as well as doing yoga with me via my ‘Live+Virtual‘ online yoga courses. I also offer in-person Retreats. Please subscribe to my newsletter to find out about all upcoming offerings.
I do! Aqua Yoga private + semi-private sessions take place in the summer months in my heated pool adjacent to the yoga studio. Especially beneficial for those with joint pain to help improve strength, flexibility and range of motion, Aqua Yoga is also a wonderful form of prenatal exercise. It offers all yogis a fun way to diversify their practice during the warm weather months. The best part: floating Savasana! See more details on my Private Yoga Sessions page.
Yes! My Book Club meets in February, May, August + November in my home or poolside (Zoom option available) for meaningful conversation. Bring a dish to pass for a healthy vegan potluck! FREE to current private and ‘Live+Virtual’ online students; non-students warmly welcomed, $10.
This is not a hot yoga studio. I strive to keep the studio at a moderately comfortable temperature for most people year-round. Students are encouraged to wear layers and regulate their own body temperature.
I have developed all of my offerings with the intention of encouraging students to ‘dive deeper’ into their yoga practices and live better in their body: through private yoga sessions, my self-paced online courses, my Wellness Blog, my Yoga Book Club and more. Please subscribe to my newsletter to learn more!
Doing yoga can build bone and muscle strength and increase flexibility as we age, and taking a class once a week is great–but did you know that you need to practice 5-7 days a week to see sustainable results? If you need a little support hitting that goal, I can help. Take some private classes with me, enroll in one of my ‘Live+Virtual’ online yoga courses, or purchase my ’15 Minute Yoga for a Better Body’ self-paced video course of seven 15-minute videos (one for each day of the week) to stretch what’s tight; strengthen what’s weak; improve your posture and balance; relax your body; and calm your mind.
