One of the participants at my Fall Yoga + Self-Care Weekend Retreat summed it up best when she said, “I wanted to come on this retreat because it has all of my favorite things: yoga, nature and food!” I think I can safely say that it did not disappoint in any of those categories.
Not only did retreatants partake of lovely Yin, Hatha and Slow Flow yoga classes, they also enjoyed a Forest Bathing Mindfulness Walk on a beautiful 70 degree October day. In their free time, some enjoyed bike rides on a nearby trail and paddles in a nearby lake, while others did some walking on the property where they spotted bald eagles and porcupines in the trees. And of course, the perfect weather lent itself to a bonfire under the stars, where we were serenaded by a pack of coyotes in the distance!
And the food! Everyone loved the healthy, plant-based meals (see pictures of a few dishes below) that we didn’t have to cook ourselves! We were very well-taken care of by the Innkeepers, who are retiring within the next year and handing over the reins to their niece and nephews (who happen to have lots of previous experience in the restaurant and hospitality industries and who are promising an even more ‘elevated’ experience in the future).
Here are a few nice notes I received from appreciative participants:
“I’m truly grateful for your energy and dedication to making this happen for all of us. I felt it was a beautiful pause in a busy and stressful time. I felt renewed by the yoga, time outside, and by the caring and openness of the other people and the innkeepers. Did I forget the food!!?! It was delicious and nurturing. And how about those porcupines!!?!” -CH
“Thank you so much for an amazing weekend! I came back feeling more like myself than I have in a while. While I have pretty good habits around self-care and staying active, the retreat helped me remember that it’s about more than checking the boxes. Thank you for the community and intentionality.” -MU
“Thank you so much Christy! This retreat was the perfect blend of quiet time for reflection, yoga and delicious vegan meals. I’m hoping to incorporate more forest bathing into my regular routines to recenter and appreciate the beauty of each moment. I am continuing to ask myself how I feel and what I need. My next step is to learn to voice those needs to the people around me. I would love to come again next year. Thank you for providing such a wonderful location and schedule for people to find their way back to themselves.” -JW
